The Xiaomi Mi 5, a powerful Snapdragon 820 totting phone has just been announced via Mi Malaysia’s Facebook as coming this weekend(18th June) to Malaysia. The Mi 5 which was announced originally at Mobile Web Congress in Barcelona earlier this year has taken its sweet time to arrive at Malaysian shores.
The Mi 5 is packed with the latest Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB RAM, 3000 mAH battery, a 4 axis stabilized 16MP back camera, a 4MP front facing camera and at a very light 129g.
Up front is a 1080p full HD display which can get very bright, up to 600 nits of brightness in fact. While a Quad HD display would have been nice, I think Full HD especially at the 5.15 inches of the Mi 5 is plenty sufficient.
Also round back there’s the 16MP camera with a f2.0 aperture along with flash. Most optical stabilizations are 3 axis but on the Mi 5 it covers 4 axis. This should enable you to get a very stabilized shot while taking pictures or video.
The design of the Mi 5 is reminiscent of the earlier Mi Note with a curved back. Since it also uses glass at the back, it means it’ll require a bit more delicate handling as opposed to other phones made of aluminium.
Malaysia is getting the lower variant which has a Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.8ghz, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It will be retailing for RM1,549 and you can find more details over at the Mi 5 product page over at Xiaomi’s website.
We are currently in talks to get a review unit and when we do you can expect videos over on our Youtube channel and here on the website as well. Thanks for reading, remain awesome!
